Dr. Melissa Heisler, O.D.
Dr. Heisler is from a small town in Canada called Heisler (yes, really!). Dr. Heisler dreamed of becoming an optometrist from a young age. She moved to Chicago, IL, to attend the Illinois College of Optometry, where she graduated in 2018 Summa Cum Laude. She then moved to North Carolina to start her career and joined the Oscar Oglethorpe team in 2019. Dr. Heisler provides primary eyecare for glasses and contact lenses, and manages anterior and posterior ocular health, including diabetic eye exams.
Favorite part of the eye: The optic nerve
Off the Clock: Dr. Heisler can be found spending time with her husband and dog, enjoying a glass of wine, hitting the gym, and planning her next vacation
Liz Wall, A.B.O.C.
With nearly a decade of optical experience under their belt, Liz is a whiz with the technical side of optics, but their true passion lies in forging meaningful connections with patients, empowering them to embrace their unique selves through eyewear. Their favorite aspects of the job are troubleshooting optical challenges and mentoring colleagues to reach their full potential as opticians. In an alternate universe, Liz envisions themself as an ocularist, sculpting intricate prosthetics with the same care and precision they apply to their current profession. But for now, they continue to blend science, empathy, and problem-solving as an integral part of Oscar Oglethorpe.
Off the Clock: Find Liz studying cryptozoology and high strangeness, cooking new cuisines,
and playing fetch with their cats, Gozer and Zuul.
Leah Adams, A.B.O.C.
Leah, our adept lab technician, is the unsung O.O. hero whose expertise ensures that every lens is carefully ordered and precisely edged to fit flawlessly into your frames. Their attention to detail and technical prowess keep our shop running like a well-oiled machine, even if their presence often goes unnoticed. So, the next time you find yourself marveling at the clarity of your lenses, be sure to offer them a nod of appreciation for their craft.

Melanie Gutierrez
Originally from Long Beach, CA, Melanie brings a wealth of experience to her role as an optician, fueled by a deep-seated passion for her craft. She is dedicated to constantly growing her optical knowledge and finding new ways to improve patients’ vision and well-being. As our resident Contact Lens Specialist, Melanie eagerly shares her knowledge and expertise, guiding patients through the intricacies of contact lens wear and safety. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she effectively communicates with a diverse range of patients, ensuring they each receive personalized and comfortable care. In her freetime, Melanie enjoys spending her evenings watching telenovelas with her family and dogs.

Temi Adeniyi
Temi is an optician with enthusiasm that knows no bounds! Raised in Greensboro, she brings a warm and welcoming vibe to her work. Temi’s passion lies in the thrill of finding unique and stylish glasses for her patients (and herself), all while connecting with new people along the way. Beyond her professional life, Temi is an avid enthusiast of all things beauty and makeup-related. When she’s not perfecting her makeup skills, you’ll often catch her binge-watching anime or making ceramics.
Fun fact: Temi has a major sweet tooth – wherever there’s dessert, you’ll find her!
Favorite Animes: Naruto, One Piece and Law & Order: SVU.
Julithze Rubio
Meet Julithze, the eldest daughter of Mexican immigrant parents, whose journey from remodeling to eye-care has been unexpected yet fulfilling. As our Quality Control Specialist, not a flaw or scratch escapes her discerning eye, ensuring impeccable eyewear for all O.O. customers! Fluent in both English and Spanish, Julithze also helps foster a comfortable environment for our Spanish-speaking patients, bridging language barriers with ease.
Off the Clock: Julithze indulges in collecting trinkets (especially of cute characters like Doraemon and My Melody), and explores her passion for music.
Addicted to: Beets; new piercings and tattoos
Rachel Kindley
With years of experience in customer service under her belt, Rachel is passionate about helping clients find the perfect solutions for their vision needs! Her meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills ensure that each customer has a seamless and personalized experience. We love her for her ability to communicate effectively, build meaningful relationships with her customers, and maintain a positive attitude no matter what!
Off the clock: Rachel enjoys tending to her flower beds, caring for her (rather large) menagerie of pets, kayaking, reading fanfiction, and spending time with her loved ones.

Born and raised in Bangor, Maine, Cassandra has been working as an Optometric Technician since 2021. With a passion for patient care and a heart dedicated to helping others, she strives to make every visit a positive and comfortable experience. The healthcare field has always held a special place in her heart, and she is proud to be part of a team that values quality care and compassion.
